With nearly 145 years of experience sailing, Holland America Line has mastered the art of cruising. Guests are introduced to rich new experiences while enjoying the elegance and timelessness of their incredible ships. The newest addition to the Holland America Line fleet, the Nieuw Statendam, has been making waves this year for all the right reasons.
In February, Holland America Line welcomed Oprah Winfrey on board to dedicate the Nieuw Statendam as the ship’s godmother. This tradition in the cruise industry recognizes a person who represents the hopes and goals for the vessel to bring good luck and protection to all those who sail on board. You can watch the naming event here.
This is the sixth time Holland America Line has given the name “Statendam” to one of its ships, representing the best that the cruise line has to offer. This is apt for the newest Pinnacle-class ship to join the fleet as it includes unique entertainment and dining options that stand out in the cruise industry.
Aboard this stunning ship, cruisers can experience live music nightly in the Rolling Stone Rock Room or the best of Memphis music in B.B. King’s Blues Club. World Stage entertains passengers with an immersive experience that blends music and visual elements for an entrancing evening.
Guests can also indulge with the culinary experiences on board. Notes, the Nieuw Statendam’s dedicated whiskey bar, provides a venue for sampling the world’s variations of this spirit. For wine lovers, Blend is a winemaking and blending opportunity led by the ship’s wine expert. Those looking for a hands-on food experience can partake in America’s Test Kitchen, which instructs participants in preparing user-friendly recipes and learning foolproof cooking techniques.
Through the fall, Nieuw Statendam will sail the coasts of Europe with itineraries that include Nordic countries, the British Isles, and ports along the Mediterranean Sea. In November, the ship will transition to America where it will sail the Caribbean through spring of 2020, before journeying back to Europe.
