KHM Travel Agents Elevate their Businesses at Destination Success
Written by: Amanda Bates on October 27, 2016
Destination Success, KHM Travel Group’s live education and networking event, brought more than 60 agents to our office for four days of learning, networking and trade shows October 18-21.
Plus, the anticipation built throughout the week because on Friday, we gave away a spot on the 2017 Crystal Conference and Awards cruise!
Agents arrived on Tuesday to a full house of our preferred suppliers for our trade show. They had almost an entire day to meet and speak with our partners from Sandals and Beaches, MSC Cruises, Jamaica Tourist Board, Vacation Express and more.
All Destination Success attendees were also invited to the Apple Vacations Dinner and Trade Show on Tuesday evening. Here they had even more face time with resort representatives, tour operators and the Apple Vacations brand.
“Getting to speak with suppliers, some of them new to me, puts KHM heads above all other host agencies,” – Lia K.
The next three days were jam-packed with supplier presentations, skill-building workshops and business development sessions. On Wednesday morning, Rick Zimmerman, Lisa Morris and Geoff Cox also gave a company update and recognized agents who have hit milestones in terms of years as travel agents and sales achievements.
Bill Coyle, of Encompass the World Travel, also provided a quick recap of the American Society of Travel Agent (ASTA) Global Conference that was held September 25-28 in Reno, Nevada. He shared some of the ways in which ASTA advocates for travel agents, and encouraged agents to get involved in their local ASTA chapters.
In addition to Tuesday’s trade shows, the agents heard presentations from suppliers Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday as well. The lineup of supplier presentations included Travel Impressions, Carnival Cruise Line, GOGO Vacations, Globus, Norwegian Cruise Line, Mark Travel, VAX, Vacation.com, Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises, Walt Disney World and Holland American Line.
Friday morning, there was a bit of romance (travel) in the air. Melissa Rice of LoveShack Vacations talked to agents about working with couples and selling honeymoons, destination weddings, and other romantic trips to help boost their sales.
Other business-focused sessions included Elevating the Quote, Social Networking, Earning Repeat Business and Best Practices: Building & Working Leads, which was actually a Q & A style panel led by several experienced travel agents in our corporate office.
“This was very helpful! I really enjoyed everyone’s stories and experiences!” – Anne Marie C.
On Friday morning, our National Training Director Marie Smith had the pleasure of announcing the winner of a cabin on our 2017 Crystal Conference and Awards cruise. Everyone who attended Destination Success was eligible to win, and Katrina went home with a spot on Crystal!
To build excitement about Destination Success and our Crystal Conference, throughout the event agents could participate in our #Contest4Conquest Social Media Scavenger Hunt. The winner of the contest, Misty, went home with $100 onboard credit for the Crystal Conference and Awards cruise!
We are grateful to all the travel agents who invested in their education and business development during Destination Success. It was a pleasure hosting you here at our home office, and we hope to see each of you at future events!
“It is so incredible to be a part of a group of people who are so willing to share their knowledge and expertise with anyone who needs it. I am so happy to be a part of the KHM family and to have been given the opportunity to attend an event like Destination Success!” – Laura G.
