Looking for a unique cruise experience?
Carnival has announced they will be offering several one-of-a-kind, extended sailings scheduled for the end of 2015 and early 2016. The 11 sailings depart from Long Beach, Calif.; Port Canaveral, Fla.; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Miami; and New Orleans. Travelers will have the opportunity to visit more than two dozen ports-of-call, including rarely visited destinations like Bonaire, Martinique, Dominica, Grenada and Tobago.
According to Terry Thorton, Carnival’s senior vice president of itinerary planning, the trips are geared toward a wealthier, somewhat older traveler. A higher price point on these special bookings means a higher commission for travel agents.
“We know how agents have struggled with the low pricing and commissions on our short cruises,” he said. “And we hope to provide better commission levels with these single cruises.”
In addition to the longer sailings and diverse ports, Carnival is looking for other ways to spice up the onboard activities, including special dining, entertainment and educational experiences that correspond to a specific region.
