KHM Travel RDC Spotlight: Becki Doby, Southeast Region

beckidoby1editShe is an Army wife, mother of three, and travel agent. She also hosts exchange students and volunteers for mission trips.

Becki Doby is a busy woman, but as our Southwest Regional Development Coordinator, she always makes family a priority. That means her husband, her kids, and her travel family!

Because of her husband’s military career, Becki has lived around the United States and also in Europe. When they returned to the states from Germany, her husband was then deployed to Iraq on three separate occasions.

Becki realized she needed a job that would allow her the flexibility to take care of her kids.

She became a travel agent in 2007, knowing that travel was something she was passionate about and that she could do from home.

In 2014, she took on the role of RDC for our Southeast Region (FL, GA, AL, TN, SC, and NC). Being a part of such a supportive network of agents is her favorite part of the job.

“Our agents called KHM family,” Becki says. “I am proud to be part of this family!”

With nearly 10 years of experience as an agent, she has a wealth of knowledge to share too.

Her first piece of advice to new agents is to make sure they have a dedicated space for their travel agency business. This is important not just for concentration and making phone calls undisturbed, but for keeping their professional and personal lives separate.

Becki says she is a sun, sand and beach-loving girl!

She also says to focus on time management. This can be a challenge for her, with so much going on, but she finds that it helps to start each day with a to-do list.

Of course, the most important key to success is education.

“You can not sell a product you do not know!” Becki adds.

When she isn’t working on her travel business or running her kids to games, performances or fundraisers, she likes to volunteer in her community. This year, they also hosted a 15-year old from France and an 18-year old from Germany through an exchange program.

Somehow, her family still makes time to travel. Her family travels often, and loves to cruise. Her favorite vacation to date was her son’s graduation trip in May, when they stayed at Hard Rock Punta Cana.

“I was scolded by the excursion tour guide for driving too fast through the mud, and the teens thought it was hilarious that Mom was in trouble,” Becki recalls. “Watching my son laugh uncontrollably during the fish pedicure is something I will never forget.”

As Southeast RDC, Becki is available to support KHM Travel Agents in her area, and keep them informed about local live events that might benefit their business.

Thanks to Becki for continuing to be a valuable and positive resource for our agents!
