March 16th-18th, KHM Travel Group had the pleasure of welcoming 41 travel agents to our first Boot Camp of 2016.

Previous attendees know that in past years, our training team fit skill-building, product knowledge, business training and marketing segments all into just two days at Boot Camp.

It’s a ton of information to process in two days, so this year’s expanded three-day Boot Camp format allowed agents to have a little more breathing room, and time to absorb everything they’ve learned!

It also opened up more time to focus on key business-building aspects of being a new travel agent. This includes more on the sales process, our Supplier Marketing Resources and TravSearch, and creating the best possible experience for clients.

Plus, we also welcomed two of our preferred supplier partners, Kathy from Royal Caribbean and Jenny from Funjet Vacations, for presentations. Networking opportunities like these are invaluable, especially for establishing long-term relationships with suppliers.

“This was beyond helpful,” said Shaliece of Texas. “Not only to learn from the KHM team, but from other agents. I look forward to Destination Success and possibly some seminars at sea and FAMS. Loved it all!”

On Friday afternoon attendees participated in a roundtable with KHM Travel staff. Staff from all of our departments rotated between small groups of agents to answer specific questions that hadn’t been answered yet.

“The roundtable was great! Nice to put faces to names,” said Sandy, a new agent from Ohio. “Everyone was helpful and able to help with all questions.”

For the first time, the training team also asked agents to think about what they had learned each day with “homework” assignments given on the first and second evenings. The following morning, the group would review and discuss the results of the homework exercises.
The goal of the homework, and of Boot Camp overall, is to set the stage for our agents to take what they’ve learned and actually apply it to their businesses.

“This is the best money I’ve spent. I was really beginning to doubt myself if I could do this. I know I can do this now! I really feel after meeting everyone that I so much have support,” said Cary, a Colorado-based agent.

From the feedback we received after the event and stories shared on Facebook, it seems that this Boot Camp was full of fast learners, and highly motivated agents! We’ve already seen agents who have turned around and made bookings to Jamaica, Disney and even Ireland.

“Don’t delay…get down and sweat thru the detailed workout of Boot Camp. Your business will thank you,” added Linda, from Georgia.

We can’t wait to hear more success stories from this awesome group of agents!

Registration is now open for KHM Travel’s next Boot Camp, May 11th-13th, 2016 here at our corporate office near Cleveland, Ohio. Head to our event site, TravelAgentMeeting.com for more info and to sign up.
