This past week, 15 KHM Travel Group agents boldly went where no KHM Travel FAM group had gone before – to Aruba!
For 5 days and 4 nights, the agents called the Hotel RIU Palace Aruba home. This all-inclusive resort is located on Palm Beach, a stretch of coastline known for its pristine white sands and crystal blue waters.
Holly Peck from KHM Travel’s Agent Support team accompanied the agent group on the trip. They gathered for dinner the first evening at the hotel’s main dining room, Don Nicolas.
On Friday, agents had two excursion options available to them through Kini Kini Tour company: a bus tour or the more rugged, open-air Jeep tour. Between the two groups, they visited a butterfly farm, the colorful Alto Vista Chapel, the California lighthouse, an ostrich farm, and the tranquil Natural Pool.
The site inspection portion of the trip commenced that afternoon, with tours of RIU Palace Aruba and RIU Palace Antillas, the chain’s adult-only property on Palm Beach.
Being among the first of our family of travel agents to explore Aruba, the agents were determined to gather as much travel intel as possible.
Karen Beasley, one of KHM Travel’s Pinnacle Elite agents, says that she would sum up the experience with two words: “divide and conquer!”
A few agents rented a car, and took their own driving tour of the island. Another group took a taxi to Aruba’s capital, Oranjestad, to scope out the shopping opportunities. Yet another pair of agents took it upon themselves to explore the area’s beach and water sport options.
“As we’d gather together over breakfast, lunch or dinner – having the ability to share our experiences with one another was priceless,” says Karen.
Later on in the day on the Saturday, our agents were invited to a Salsa class at RIU Palace Antillas. On Sunday, they had the day free to explore more or relax at the host resort. Another small group went the extra mile and went to check out the Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort on the last day of the trip.
This collaborative spirit is one of the biggest advantages of attending FAM trips. In a group, you can enjoy each other’s company, and also take time to split up and cover more travel agent territory!
If you have questions about Aruba, ask the FAM attendees in the Agents-Only Facebook Group – they will be happy to share their wealth of information!
