Elements of a Good Logo

Your logo is a crucial part of your travel agency’s image, so you should spend time thinking through and creating potential designs that properly showcase your business.

Make a Great First Impression

A logo often provides your audience with their first impressions of your travel agency. Your design could be what drives a potential new client to seek out more information about you and follow through on your contact form, or it could send them searching for a travel agency they believe to be a better fit.

Start off Strong

Because your logo will be used in a variety of ways, it is important to launch your business with something appropriate that is ready to be shared on social media platforms, your website, letterheads, business cards, and beyond.

Beyond care and thought put into colors, fonts, and graphics, make sure the logo is fully functional and easily usable.

Logos are property of their respective owners and used here for informational purposes only.

What Makes a Great Logo?

When creating your company’s signature mark, the five features of successful logos can guide you in the design process.

A logo should be:

Timeless

Take time to create a logo that will still be relevant and meaningful years from now. Avoid highly stylized or dated fonts and graphics that could require tweaking later. Think about where your business is now, and what it could look like down the road. Can your logo grow with you as your business grows?

Memorable

Your logo should be unique enough to stick in your audience’s mind and set you apart from your competitors. Someone who sees it for the first time should have an idea of what your business is and be able to remember your logo even after a quick glance.

Simple

Your audience should be able to quickly and easily understand your logo and identify it as yours. Overly complicated designs will confuse your audience, and from a practical standpoint, they just don’t translate well across social media platforms, print products, and gear. Further, you’ll need both black and white versions of your logo, and these will also look better with a simple design.

Fun Fact: 95% of businesses use only 1-2 colors in their logo. The most popular color, blue, is included in 33% of logos and is associated with stability, comfort, and confidence.

Appropriate

A great logo will reflect your brand and appeal to your target audience through fonts, colors, and graphics. Further, it should be original work and imply positive connotation. The elements chosen should convey your travel agency’s background and mission, so choose wisely.

Versatile

The best logos work in any size and will be eye-catching regardless of color, grayscale, black, or white use. Consider how your logo will look across various online platforms and in print by testing it first. You’ll want to think about a variety of layouts too – vertical, horizonal, and circular – to meet the needs of different uses and projects.

Common Pitfalls of Logo Design

If your logo is overly complicated, not distinct enough, contradictory, or misaligned with your travel agency’s mission or goals, you risk sending a muddled message to consumers…and confused consumers go elsewhere.

Most Magical Vacations Travel Co example: Words and elements that suggest theme park vacations, for example, could provide potential clients with the impression that this is the sole focus of your business. The same could be said about cruise-specific imagery, as an alternate example.

Luxury Travel Agency example: The design doesn’t align with luxury, as it’s too playful and cartoonish in both its fonts and color choices.

Designing Your Logo

If creating your own logo seems too daunting of a task, contact a professional to design it for you! Graphic design students, freelancers, or design services through various online sources are good places to start.

Skip the AI

It may be tempting to rely on AI, but AI creations don’t always adhere to the design principles and best practices outlined here. Your logo is too important for your business branding to showcase something that doesn’t work for a variety of reasons.

With these ideas in mind, you’ll be on your way to creating a logo that aligns with your business!
