Preferred Supplier Spotlight: Kathy Killen, Royal Caribbean

img_0873-editKathy Killen, our Strategic Account Manager from Royal Caribbean International is a familiar and welcome face here at our Corporate Office. And not just because she often comes bearing donuts and cupcakes!

She’s also one of our agents’ biggest supporters, and one of the people all agents should get to know better!

Kathy’s travel selling days go back to college, when she sold spring break trips on campus to pay her way through school and earn a tour conductor credit so she could escort these trips. After that, she worked as a travel agent in Virginia before heading out to sea and working onboard cruise ships for five years.

Once back home in Ohio, she became a Sales Manager for a river cruise company before settling in to her position as Strategic Account Manager with Royal Caribbean International in 2009.

The heart of her job has actually remained the same throughout her career. She remains dedicated to selling cruises and helping people have wonderful memories together with their loved ones.

Of course, she loves the Royal Caribbean product. With 25 ships sailing all over the world, she can truly say there’s something for everyone.

“I love what we do onboard with our dining, entertainment, and our ships that are built like nothing else out there. Where we really excel is our Adventure Ocean Youth Program.  It does not matter if you are traveling with children or without children – we deliver the WOW to all and deliver it in the way that Royal Caribbean is known for,” she says.

Her favorite part of working with KHM Travel Group is seeing how much the staff invests in agents, and how much excitement the agents have for travel.

“There is no better agent support out there for new agents or even established agencies looking for further enhancements to their business.” says Kathy. “It is a win-win for both the agent and for me as a preferred vendor. We all work so great together to get tools into KHM agent hands to help them grow as well as offering exclusive opportunities.”

Kathy says the key to being successful selling Royal Caribbean is to take advantage of the tools the cruise line has readily available for travel agents. Royal Caribbean’s marketing tool kit is available at www.loyaltoyoualways.com.

“We make it easy for our agents to get word out on our promotions and the product,” adds Kathy. “People are buying Royal Caribbean! I want them to book it with you!”

She adds that, as a travel agent, selling clients on a Royal Caribbean ship is a great way to build the business and fill that pipeline for years to come.
