Our journey began in 2017 when a group of travel agents highlighted the lack of supplier marketing resources for promoting travel to diverse client groups. This concern led to the formation of a focus group that included corporate team members skilled in supplier relations, sales, and marketing. Together, they analyzed our company’s approach to serving diverse travelers and brainstormed ways to make the travel industry more equitable for all agents.

Today, this focus group has evolved into the Agent Advisory Committee. This committee, comprised of diverse agents, meets quarterly to provide valuable feedback and personal insights to our corporate team. Their mission is to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the travel industry, ensuring all agents have the resources and support they need to succeed.

In addition to establishing this committee, KHM Travel Group has also developed the following new initiatives:  

DE&I Resource Guide – KHM Travel Group has a DE&I Resource Guide for agents to access inside MyTravelAgentPortal. This guide includes resources like professional organizations, certifications, supplier marketing resources, and internal marketing resources, as well as helpful links and suggestions to meet clients’ unique needs.  

Monthly DE&I Newsletter – This monthly newsletter includes KHM Travel Group and industry news, as well as ideas and resources to engage diverse clients and grow your business. 

“Expanding the Lens” – Our weekly, live talk show KHM Today broadcasts segments dedicated to DE&I-related topics. So far, segments have discussed LGBTQ+ travel, accessible travel, and even more specific topics like sobriety and recovery while traveling.  

BIPOC Agent Resource Group – This group is intended to create space for agents with shared identities and experiences to exchange ideas, celebrate growth, communicate challenges, and build community within our larger agent community.
