Our second Boot Camp event of the year brought 36 KHM Travel Agents to our corporate office, May 11th-13th. Every Boot Camp is a little different, because our training team takes feedback from previous travel agent training sessions to improve the events that follow it.
Day 1 included trainings on why to use preferred suppliers, how to develop a business mindset, how to build a brand, and a presentation from Chris Schutz, Business Development Manager with Carnival Cruise Line.
Our training team also discussed how agents can harness their passion for travel and their current set of skills to build their travel business. Each Boot Camp is also unique because of the different backgrounds and experience levels of the agents that attend.
For instance, one agent, Claudia said that while she wasn’t new to travel, starting a business was new for her.
“I love to help people and make happy customers,” she said. “This is the best decision I’ve made to move my business forward.”
The business-building sessions continued on Thursday and Friday. In addition to lecture-style presentations, agents also gained practical skills with our hands-on booking and commissions workshops.
The Boot Campers also heard from Tina Tiano, Regional Sales Manager with Apple Vacations. Developing connections with top travel suppliers is one of the invaluable benefits that Boot Camp attendees take home.
These few days give agents the relevant knowledge and skills they need to succeed — but it also educates them on the resources they can access to continue their training, well after Boot Camp.
“Boot Camp is great to get to know your KHM family and the wealth of experience and knowledge they have to share to make you successful,” said agent Mauricia. “You are not alone!”
Marie Smith, National Training Director, also organized a Boot Camp first during the Compliance training session. For the first time, agents could watch the presentation in real time through Facebook Live!
We hope that Boot Camp has set the stage for these agents to take what they’ve learned and apply it to growing their businesses.
Still on the fence about joining us for an upcoming Boot Camp? Ask past attendees about their experience!
“You need to go to Boot Camp,” said Rae, an agent who joined us for last week’s training. “I thought about signing up for months and I’m glad I did it. I wish I would’ve done it earlier. It is very educating, rewarding and motivating. Great investment!”
Thank you to all the agents who invested in themselves at Boot Camp last week. It was a pleasure meeting all of you, and learning about where you’d like to take your travel businesses!
We invest our time into developing the best travel agent training programs so that our agents have everything they need to build successful businesses.
