KHM Travel Group’s first Boot Camp of the year, March 1-3, not only featured a new location, but new workshops, panels and hands-on booking sessions. The updates and improvements are designed to ensure each travel agent leaves with the knowledge, tools and confidence needed to develop their business. It’s an investment in themselves and their agencies!
Day One of Boot Camp was held here at our home office in Brunswick, Ohio. The 40 travel agents in attendance were introduced to each of our staff members, including our executive team, and then also were given an overview of our Preferred Suppliers and how to choose which suppliers to work with.
While at the home office, each agent also had the opportunity to have a professional headshot taken. We also gathered everyone together for our first outdoor Boot Camp group photo!
Our team filled the rest of the day with valuable training sessions to help agents develop a business, build on their past and passion, become familiar with myTravelCRM and begin marketing themselves. They left with homework – to create a 30-second commercial for their travel business!
Agents got a change of scenery during Days Two and Three of Boot Camp, which took place at the nearby Holiday Inn in Strongsville. The morning kicked off with each agent practicing his or her 30-second commercial, so that they could get feedback from their fellow agents and our staff.
It was another busy day that included an in-depth review of the sales process, making land bookings, and compliance. That afternoon, our Apple Vacations BDM Tina Tiano also introduced agents to Apple’s products, its booking engine and how Apple can help create memorable experiences for clients.
On Day Three, agents got an overview of Travel Leaders Network, KHM Travel Group’s consortium. Through our membership in Travel Leaders Network, agents gain access to even more resources, tools and educational opportunities.
Marie Smith, our Director of Agent Development and Engagement, led agents through the process of creating goals for their business so that they have plan of action when leaving Boot Camp.
Following that, we welcomed Kathy Killen, our Royal Caribbean Business Development Manager and cruising expert. She provided an introduction to Royal Caribbean’s offerings, and also provided a hands-on cruise booking workshop.
Boot Camp wrapped up that afternoon with a question and answer panel featuring experienced agents, and then a discussion of how to create a positive client experience.
We hope each Boot Camp agent left prepared to take their business to the next level, and establish themselves as true travel professionals! It was a pleasure hosting you, and learning more about your businesses last week.
“Boot Camp is the best possible event for new agents,” said KHM Travel’s President Rick Zimmerman. “Agents are not talked at, but talked to. The format of the event allows our team members to showcase their talents and interact one-on-one with agents to meet them where they are struggling.”
