Travel agents from around the country gathered at KHM Travel Group’s corporate office March 20th and 21st for our largest Boot Camp Training session to date.

Thirty-one agents engaged in two days of instruction centered around the “Ready. Set. Grow.” theme.

On Day One, the agents arrived for breakfast and welcoming remarks from our team. Before lunch, agents got hands-on experience on how to make supplier bookings and work in our commissions booking manager.

In the afternoon, agents were introduced to FunJet Vacation’s Lisa Tinnerman and learned about opportunities to succeed with FunJet as a supplier. Afterwards came presentations on Marketing Essentials and Social Media platforms from KHM Travel’s team of marketing experts. Day one was wrapped up with a discussion on exploring travel segments with the training department.

Between sessions, agents had the opportunity to network with their peers and get to know KHM Travel staff.

“I liked the ‘open classroom’ style, where we could ask questions if needed along the way,” said attendee Cassie Stroup of Newton Falls, Ohio.

“Boot Camp truly made me feel like I’m not alone in this adventure. The support provided was genuine and professional.”

On Day Two, the agents got a closer look at the sales process and how to ensure their business’s growth. Through a compliance workshop, they also learned about the legal requirements of starting an agency. The final two presentations focused on applied social media techniques and how to follow up with clients after they’ve made a booking.

Beth Klubnik, KHM Travel’s Agency Trainer, speaks to our Boot Camp attendees about the best ways to build their business.

One new feature of this Boot Camp allowed attendees to record goals, which the training team will be following-up on to keep agents motivated and on track.

“The goals were helpful…I wrote down ideas that I hadn’t thought of before!” said Cassie.

The two main objectives of our Boot Camps are to provide new agents with a solid foundation of skills and knowledge to kick-start their travel business, and to give them opportunity to build relationships with fellow agents and our team.

One attendee, Erin Schwein of Avon, Indiana, summed up her Boot Camp experience by saying, “You don’t know what you don’t know. Boot Camp teaches you about those things. It gives you the pieces to complete the bigger picture of being a travel agent.”

Mike Bassett of Puyallup, Washington added, “Just as breakfast is the first and most important meal of the day, so is Boot Camp. It should be a top priority for any new agent.

This Boot Camp was just one of many training opportunities hosted by KHM Travel each year. New agents can sign up now for our next Boot Camp, which is May 1st and 2nd. Registration is open until April 22nd.

For even more in-depth, customized instruction, agents can sign up for our Destination Success live training which is coming up May 13th to 16th!
